Holy War

I was listening to the Larry Elder show on the way home tonight, and he was taking calls about the Iraq War. If you're not familiar with Larry Elder, he calls himself a "republitarian", and leans to the Right, but definitely not what I'd call extreme. He supports President Bush on the war on terror, and supported the invasion of Iraq this past spring.

Most of the calls he took that took the opposing side on Iraq stated all the usual wing nut reasons -- it's all about oil, it's to give his buddies at Halliburton some easy cash, yadda yadda yadda. One caller did stand out, though, claiming that the only reason that Al Qaeda wants us dead is because we're in the Middle East. Not because we're a liberal democratic state, not because we're predominately Christian, and not because our women drive cars and show their face. To this caller, Osama Bin Laden's word is enough, and if we just got out of the Arab countries, everything would be right as rain. Uh-huh.

To me, this isn't up for disagreement -- its blatantly obvious as to why they want to kill us and make us fear them -- we're not an Islamic state. It's really that simple, people. While we don't have a Taliban-style government and bow to Sharia law, we are the infidel, and war will be made upon us. Remember, to Osama, Saudi Arabia is too liberal. Practicing any religion other than Islam is functionally illegal there, and they are too moderate.

To anyone that wants more information on the continuing Jihad, that hasn't stopped now for over 1000 years, Robert Spencer's Jihad Watch blog is required reading. If you feel even the slightest bit comfortable with the aforementioned caller's statement, read it. If you want to know better the enemy of you and yours, read it.
